Hands

This is me and my little brother Jon. I actually have 6 brothers, Tom, Ted, Kevin, Tim, Mike and Jon, but Jon is my only full biological brother. Most of my brothers are half brothers but Jon and I have the same mother and father. It dawned on me several years ago that of all the people on the planet Jon is more like me then anyone else. The biggest difference between Jon and I are the career paths we took.
Back in the summer of 1982, after spending the summer working for my fathers company I decided that, although I loved and appreciated everything that the company had provided for me, there was no way in the world I could ever work there. I was basically worthless to the company, dead weight that only had a job because of my last name. So for the past 22 years I have a pursued a career as a television director and video editor. Basically, most days I sit at a desk and push a mouse around.
Jon, on the other hand, was perfectly suited to work for my fathers company. Jon is what I call a "mechanical savant". If it's broken, Jon can fix it. If it works "OK", Jon can make it work better. There is no project too difficult and no project too small. He can rebuild a car engine in a weekend and once he stopped my sink from dripping in about 5 seconds. Jon works with his hands.
Jon and I are as close as you can get to being the same genetically without being twins.
UPDATE...
Christmas Day 2004 we came across this picture of Jon from 1970... he is 4 years old here. And look at what he is doing, building something. The tupperware tub next to him is exactly like the ones he still uses to this day in the bins of his work truck to sort screws and various fasteners. I love this photo of my brother.

Mom says click on this swirly thing.
